There isn't the usual scramble considering it opens again next week, however, it hasn't stopped the rumours from flowing.

The Jamie Gittens story seems to be developing quickly, with the winger reportedly telling Borussia Dortmund that he wants to leave the club.

According to Sky Sports, Gittens has made it clear that he wants to leave so that he can Chelsea and participate in the Club World Cup.

The Blues have reportedly had two bids rejected for the 20-year-old, the most recent being one in the region of £42m today.

If Chelsea fail in their pursuit of Gittens today, they will have another chance to snap up the England Under-21 man's signature when the next window opens on Monday, 16 June.

But should Gittens be included in Dortmund's squad list for the Club World Cup, he will be unable to participate in the competition for Chelsea.

BBC Sport columnist Guillem Balague took to X earlier today to discuss Arsenal target Martin Zubimendi.

Balague wrote, external that during a conversation with Thierry Henry, he put Zubimendi "in the top three in the world in that position".

"His ing might sound simple, but he generally chooses well the one to do. He hardly ever loses the ball and that helps with fluidity and team confidence.

"He reads the game very well, without being the fastest midfielder - he has the puzzle of the team in his head."

Balague added that while Zubimendi, 26, is "more up to driving with the ball and even getting into the box," his main job is to help with buil up.

"Sometimes going at the level of the centre-backs, make the game fluid, find the man with space, push the team forward, and do the same when it is the matter of applying pressure.

"He is very clever when it comes to decide when to go or when not to go. A team player, a quiet leader. A key c the machine."

Will Chelsea get that Jamie Gittens deal over the line?

, Chelsea and Manchester City have to submit their squad lists for the Club World Cup today.

Here is a reminder of the key timings on the first transfer deadline day of the summer:

• 17:00 BST - Clubs must submit a deal sheet two hours before today's transfer deadline closes
• 19:00 BST - The summer's first transfer window closes
• 21:00 BST - Clubs must submit the full paperwork for a transfer to officially go through.

NB: This is just the beginning. The second window of the summer will open on Monday, 16 June, before closing on Monday, 1 September at 19:00 BST for Premier League, EFL and Scottish Premiership clubs.

Borussia Dortmund

And just like that, there are reports from elsewhere that Borussia Dortmund have immediately rejected Chelsea's second bid of around £42m.

Florian Plettenberg of Sky states that the Bundesliga side quickly turned down the Blues' offer and are standing firm for a bigger fee.

Chelsea have made a bid of around £42m for Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens.

The 20-year-old already has a seven-year contract on the table and is thought to be keen on a move to Stamford Bridge.

The Blues had a bid earlier this week rejected but have returned with a new offer.

Gittens, 20, made 48 appearances in all competitions for Dortmund in 2024-25, scoring 12 times and providing five assists.

Reports in Portuguese website Record, external suggest that Sporting have gone back on a gentleman's agreement that would allow Sweden striker Viktor Gyokeres to leave for £67m.

According to Ben Jacobs, external, Manchester Unitd have been in with the player's representatives over a potential move. However, it's unlikely a deal would be completed before July.

Heavily in demand, Gyokeres has been linked with a move to Arsenal and Manchester United over these last few months, and it's clear to see why.

He has scored 54 goals and 13 assists in all competitions this season, including a hat-trick in a 4-1 thrashing of Manchester City in the Champions League.

Arsenal are looking to strengthen their attacking options this summer, with a new stiker top of their wish list.

• Benjamin Sesko - The Gunners have been in talks with RB Leipzig over striker Sesko, though an agreement is yet to be reached. This morning Sky Sports News reported that Saudi Pro League Al-Hilal are also interested.
• Martin Zubimendi - Arsenal have been on the brink of g Spain midfielder Zubimendi from Real Sociedad for a while now, but a deal has still not been finalised. There have been reports this week that Real Madrid are attempting to hijack the move, but Guillem Balague, external says that Zubimendi is not affected by the speculation and wants to the Gunners.

Liverpool have been targeting Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez for a while now, and it looks like they are closing in on a deal.

According to Fabrizio Romano, external, a final round of negotiations will take place soon.

A deal will not be completed today, but with Liverpool not playing at the Club World Cup, they will complete the deal after the transfer window re-opens on Monday, 16 June.

Liverpool are hoping to conclude the g of 's Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen, though BBC Sport understands that negotiations are still ongoing.

Wirtz decided to Liverpool ahead of Manchester City and Bayern Munich, with Liverpool set to pay a club record fee in excess of £109m.

Arne Slot's side have already signed Wirtz's former Leverkusen team-mate Jeremie Frimpong this summer, paying £29.5m for the Dutch full-back.

Manchester City have announced their second g of the window - English goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli from Chelsea.

The 33-year-old s City on a one-year contract after Chelsea accepted a nominal fee.

Bettinelli replaces Scott Carson as City's third-choice goalkeeper after City announced the 39-year-old's departure on Monday.

Bettinelli said: "It’s an honour to sign for City. I have ired from afar what this Club have achieved since Pep Guardiola arrived and now, I am excited to be a part of building on that success.

“I can’t wait to work with Pep, Xabi Mancisidor and the excellent goalkeepers already here and see their methods up close.

"Hopefully I can contribute in training, the dressing room and on the pitch as we look to win more silverware over the next year.”

Jaka Bijol, 26, plays as a centre-back for Italian side Udinese in Serie A but can also operate as a defensive midfielder.

He started his career at Rudar Velenje before moving to CSKA Moscow in 2018. A loan move to Hannover 96 followed before returning to CSKA and agreeing on a transfer to Udinese.

This season he has made 34 appearances for the Serie A side.

Yesterday Manchester City completed the g of Wolves left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri, but they are hoping to wrap up two more deals in time for the Fifa Club World Cup.

Pep Guardiola is hoping to add two midfielders to his squad, with City in talks with AC Milan and Lyon over midfielders Tijani Reijnders and Rayan Cherki respectively.

Earlier today, Fabrizio Romano reported that City and Lyon have agreed a 36m euros (£30.5m) fixed fee, with 6m euros (£5m) add-ons and a 15% sell-on clause.

Reijnders has reportedly signed his contract before completing a £46.3m move from Milan.

Arsenal

Kieran Tierney ed Arsenal from Celtic in 2019 and went on to make 144 appearances for the club across the back line.

He was a first team fixture across his first few seasons at Emirates Stadium, winning the FA Cup with the Gunners in 2020.

However injuries and the emergence of players like Myles Lewis-Skelly saw Tierney lose his spot in the starting XI, and he spent time on loan at Spanish side Real Sociedad in 2023-24.

Tierney missed the start of the 2024-25 campaign with a hamstring problem, and though he came back into the first team squad under Mikel Arteta he was released when his contract expired this summer.
