Al-Hilal are in talks to sign N'Golo Kante on loan from Al-Ittihad in time for the Club World Cup, reports The Athletic.

The two are hoping to agree a short-term loan deal so that the former Chelsea and Leicester City midfielder can take part in the competition.

Kante made 35 appearances in all competitions in 2024-25, scoring four times and providing four assists.

Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo appears to be a player in demand and here's why.

His total of 20 Premier League goals in 2024-25 equalled the Brentford club record set by Ivan Toney in 2022-23.

The Cameroon international also became the first player representing his country to reach 20 goals in a single season in the competition.

But the 25-year-old is more than just a goalscorer, creating 70 chances for team-mates last term, the fifth highest total in the Premier League.

When his seven assists are factored in, he was directly involved in 27 top-flight goals, third behind Alexander Isak (29) and Mohamed Salah (47).

Manchester United are closing in on the g of Wolves striker Matheus Cunha, and are now expected to open talks with Brentford over a move for Bees striker Bryan Mbeumo.

As BBC Sport reported earlier today, United feel confident in making a move for Cameroon international Mbeumo after receiving indications they are his first choice for a move this summer.

It is understood there is no release clause in Mbeumo's Brentford contract, which still has a year left to run, although there is the option to extend it by another year.

Jamie Gittens' proposed move to Chelsea from Borussia Dortmund is in the balance when it comes to being completed before the Club World Cup registration deadline.

Chelsea are keen on the wide player and ideally would have had him in for the duration of the tournament.

But that might not happen.

The interesting thing then will be whether he is included in Niko Kovac's Dortmund squad as players are not allowed to appear for more than one club in the competition.

As my colleague Nizaar Kinsella has previously reported, Chelsea are prepared to wait but there is a mid-tournament deadline which allows new arrivals to be added to squads for the knockout phase.

Clearly that couldn't happen if he had already played for Dortmund.

In the last hour, as well as the news that Borussia Dortmund have completed the g of Sunderland midfielder Jobe Bellingham, we have also brought you reports that Newcastle are making a move for Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford.

If a deal goes through for Trafford then that would mean two promoted Championship teams will be losing an England Under-21 international from their ranks before they have even begun their Premier League campaigns.

Borussia Dortmund's gain is England's loss - at least in the short term.

Jobe Bellingham was named in the England squad for the European Under 21 Championship, to be held in Slovakia starting on 11 June.

But England boss Lee Carsley has previously said he will release players so they can compete in the Club World Cup.

And with Dortmund saying Bellingham will be part of their squad in the USA, it seems certain now that he will not be available at the Euros.

Bellingham s new Chelsea striker Liam Delap in moving to a Club World Cup side in this mini-window, and thus becoming unavailable for England U21s.

Though Jobe Bellingham is following in his older brother Jude's footsteps by ing Borussia Dortmund, he wears his first name on the back of his shirt as he aims to create his own headlines.

"He doesn't want to live off the back of his brother's name; he wants to be the footballer he is and show people what he can do. He's trying to create his own identity," said former Sunderland boss Tony Mowbray in 2023.

While Jude operates largely as a number 10 - behind the main striker - for club and country, Jobe can play as a defensive or box-to-box midfielder.

Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl, speaking to the club website about Jobe Bellingham: “We’ve known Jobe for several years, and of course we have followed his progress very closely. He has taken another huge step forward in his development over the last year, and even at the age of 19 he has become a real leader.

"His commanding presence in central midfield is remarkable, and he will improve our team in various systems. We’re delighted that we were able to complete this deal before the Club World Cup so that we can see Jobe in our colours for the first time in the USA.

"He’s fit as a fiddle and raring to go – he’s determined to forge his own path at Borussia Dortmund and make his mark on how we play, and we’re confident that he will do exactly that.”

Jude Bellingham, 21, two years Jobe's senior, also came through Birmingham City's academy before moving to Dortmund in 2020 and then Real Madrid in 2023.

Another connection between brothers may have helped facilitate Bellingham's move to Dortmund.

The German club's UK scout is Daniel Dodds, brother of Wycombe Wanderers boss Mike, who worked with the Bellinghams in the Birmingham academy.

Mike Dodds was also part of the coaching staff at Sunderland when Jobe Bellingham made the move from St Andrew's to the Stadium of Light.

Borussia Dortmund then confirmed on the club website that Jobe Bellingham has signed a five-year deal at the Bundesliga giants.

They say he will fly to the USA with Dortmund on Friday as part of their Club World Cup squad.

During the tournament he will wear number 77. Big squad, or personal choice of number?

If both Dortmund and Real Madrid win their respective groups and last-16 ties, they would meet in the quarter-finals on 5 July.

Jobe could then face his big brother and Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham for the first time in a competitive match.

Talk about the chance to really make a name for yourself.

The move being completed today means Borussia Dortmund can Jobe Bellingham in their squad for the Club World Cup.

Dortmund open their campaign in the United States against Brazilian side Fluminense, before also facing Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa and South Korea's Ulsan HD.

"I’m very happy that I’ll be wearing the black and yellow jersey at the FIFA Club World Cup," Bellingham told the Borussia Dortmund website.
